Nathan Eugene Martin, Jr., affectionately known as "Junior," left this world on October 16, 2026, at the age of 60, in Dayton, Ohio. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he is remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Junior is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Linda Sue Mardis Martin, whom he married on March 21, 1989.
Born on January 20, 1966, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Nathan Eugene Martin, Sr. and Shirley Elaine Corson Martin, Junior was a strong presence in the lives of his family and friends. He is survived by his brothers, Dewey (Pamela) Martin and Christopher Martin, and his sister, Elizabeth Rieff. His legacy continues through his daughter, Michelle Martin (Christopher Thompson), and five cherished grandchildren: Kelly Martin, Robert Locke, Michael Locke, Morgan Hubbard, and Kash Honshul. He is also survived by his dear niece, Helen Long, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Billie Jean Martin, Earl, and Carl Rieff.
Junior's passion for training standard-bred racehorses was a defining part of his life, a pursuit that brought him immense joy. For over two decades, he dedicated his professional life to driving a concrete truck for ABC Concrete, Inc., where he was known for his reliability and work ethic. In addition to his career, Junior was a skilled tinkerer, often found working with scrap metal or repairing cars and small engines. He cherished those moments spent with his grandson, Kash, and took great pride in teaching Michael about horse training and aiding Robert in becoming "a hell of a fisherman." His deep love for his grandchildren inspired him to impart wisdom that they will carry with them throughout their lives.
Nathan Eugene Martin, Jr. will be remembered not only for his unwavering devotion to his family but also for the warm friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His close friends, including Bill Miller, Ona Triplett, Collette Arnett, Frannie Hunt, Christopher Thompson, and Jesse, will hold his memory dear. Ona and Collette were his top two favorite gossip buddies.
In honor of Junior's life, funeral services will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the impact, he had on their lives.
